Charlton a.k.a “Carlton” Charlton Myers, 50, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 7, 2020, after a sudden illness. He was born on November 11, 1969, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Carlvin D. Myers, Sr. and Sandra Diane (Ridgeway) Myers of Alliance.

Charlton is survived by his mother, three brothers, Carlvin Myers (his twin), Jason (Amber) Myers, and Patrick Myers, all of Alliance, maternal grandfather, Richard Ridgeway, of Akron, nephews, DeShaun Heard, Jason Myers, Jr., Justice Myers, and Juliano Myers, all of Alliance; nieces, Diamonique Wright, of Alliance, Jazzimonique Wright, of Canton, Juliana Myers, and Natalia Myers, of Alliance, one great-niece, SaZanvi Wright, of Canton; uncles, Donnie (Alma Pearl) Myers of Petal, Mississippi, and Anthony (Linda) Ridgeway of Akron; aunts, Linda (Bob) Nicholson and Joyce Ridgeway, both of Alliance, his best friends, Tina (Jeff) Hardy, and her entire family who loved him and adopted him as their own, as well as many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, his maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Ridgeway, his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Albennie Myers of Mississippi, his uncle, Richard Ridgeway, Jr., and aunt, Sestra (Myers) Banzant.

Diagnosed with autism at an early age, Charlton faced many challenges during his life. He spent his early years in Mississippi, and after graduating from Petal High School in 1987, he returned to Alliance, where he has remained. He loved attending church services in the entire city-wide area, and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church/Empowerment Center at the time of his death. He loved his independence, and enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, and participating in various community activities, especially SummerFest, during Carnation Week of the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, which included competing in the Carnation Idol singing contest of which he made it to the semi-final round in June 2019, plus he had the honor of carrying the banner for various agencies, and most importantly, he really enjoyed spending Facetime with his many friends and family on Facebook.

We wish to THANK all of the staff and friends at Rodman Public Library for opening their hearts up to him, and for your care and assistance in his hour of need. THANK YOU to Denise Patterson, his friend and landlord, for giving Charlton his first apartment and new found independence. He was loved and will be greatly missed by many in the community whose lives were touched by him.

THANK YOU to The Honorable Mayor of the City of Alliance, Alan Andreani, and his family, and to the MANY agencies and individuals in this community too numerous to name for the love and respect you showed Charlton over the years. He will be greatly missed.
