Fred Andrew Terrell 81, of Akron, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lexington, North Carolina on February 7, 1940, the son of Agnew F. Terrell and Julie “Vida” Clodfelter Terrell McElroy.
Fred lived in Alliance, as an infant until he became an adult and moved to Akron, Ohio. He retired from Republic Steel in Canton, Ohio after 29 years of service. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Alliance, Ohio before joining The House of The Lord in Akron. Mr. Terrell was a member of The Torros singing group with recorded “All the Tears Is Gone” which featured his beautiful bass voice. He enjoyed golfing at Tire Town Golf Club, traveling all over the United States and watching sports. He also enjoyed watching horse races, and spending time with family and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Louise Terrell; brothers, Claude and Frank Terrell; sister, Amanda E. Pugh; son, David Andrew Terrell; grandson, Cornelius James Terrell; and loving wife of 39 years, Lavonne M. Terrell “Bonnie” who died October 6, 2014.
Survivors include loving daughter, Crystal Terrell of Akron and son, Alvin (AB) Brown of Canton; daughter-in-law, Michele Terrell; 6 grandchildren, Tiffany (Kinta) Mitchell of Columbus, Cortez Terrell of Canton, Takeemah Terrell of Canton, Ayeshah Hampton of Maryland, Artara (Percy) Lipkins, Audreyea Brown; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Margo Johnson of Pontiac, Michigan; brothers, George (Tina) Holloway of Canton, James McElroy and Bernard (Sheryl) McElroy of Alliance; step sister, Mary Jackson of Columbus; step brother, Rentz Nicholson Jr. of Canton; sisters-in-law, Sharon Terrell of Massillon, Joanne (Samuel) Duke of Yukon, Okla., Carolyn (Robert) Jones of Birmingham, Ala., Jonnie Hughley of Akron, Oh; brothers-in-law, Harold Clifford Armour of Akron, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and special friends.
Precious memories of him will be cherished by his special friend, Patricia Barrino of Canton.
