Ralph Romaine Hartwell was born January 22nd 1958 to Vivian and Andrew. Ralph attended Akron Public Schools and Graduated from South High School in 1977. Ralph has always had a love for cars owning quite a few in his time. Ralph became a certified mechanic and specialized in body work. Throughout his young adult life Ralph enjoyed having a good time.
He enjoyed playing cards, skating, fishing, bowling, and hunting. Ralph can be remembered as being a risk taker always into something from what I heard; which earned him the nick name “Westside Maniac”. As Ralph matured throughout adulthood he experienced many things including becoming a father, grandfather, and friend to many. To know Ralph was to know how much of a hard worker he was, very selfless, and giving; going above and beyond for family and friends; he was a person called upon often and rarely said no. Out of all of his accomplishments he reached in life the one he valued the most was being a father. He loved his children.
Ralph gained his wings after a short illness and leaves to mourn him his children: Courtney (Jay) Brophy of Riverview Fl, Akecia Tucker, Andrew Hartwell, Vivian Hartwell, Davonte Drummond, John Davis, Eugene Davis, Eugenia Davis, and Kintae Davis. His Parents Vivian and Andrew Hartwell; Siblings: Pamela Alobwede, Dewayne Hartwell, Adrian Hartwell; 15 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Ralph is proceeded in death by: Ralph R Hartwell Jr (son), Joy Janay Brophy (granddaughter), Eugene Davis (grandson), David Hartwell (Brother), Irene Davis. So, Family, I would like for you all to remember a funny, crazy, silly, loving, story that you’ve heard or experienced with Ralph; hopefully this puts a smile on your face because I know there’s many. Then I want you to keep those stories in mind and share them at the repass dinner and we are going to celebrate him today for his home-going until we see him again.
Thank you for coming to send our father home. Love you all.
