God’s beloved son Kevin Scott Paul entered his resting place in the arms of Jesus on January 28, 2022. Kevin, the youngest of seven siblings, was born October 10, 1958 to the late Mr. Lucius and Mrs. Curtis Paul, in Akron Ohio.
Kevin was a proud graduate of South High School Class of 1977 where he held the position of Senior Class President. He was known as a dancer and loved dancing in the Cavalcade of Stars with his friends as “Little Kevin and His Merchandise”. Kevin earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Kent State University, where he became a brother in his beloved Fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
Kevin loved the Lord and served diligently. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the House of the Lord in Akron Ohio for over twenty years. Delivering God’s Word was his passion. He was an Ordained Minister, graduate of the Logos Bible Institute, Altar Worker, member of; the Singles Ministry, Men’s Choir, Men’s Sunday School Class, Saturday Morning Prayer Group, and Monthly Book Club. He was also a volunteer and member of a number of other clubs and organizations.
He achieved a certification in Grief Counseling and afterwards volunteered as a grief counselor at the church. Having been given his purpose by God to help others repair their lives through grief counseling, he along with four others co-founded The New Navigate, Inc, a grief counseling service.
He was employed as a Cognitive Specialist with the Oriana House. Where he taught classes and held grief recovery groups, revivals, and spoke life into the clients served by the Oriana House. Kevin enjoyed working with his Oriana house family and loved his “Supervisor and work daughter” Sparkle Ricks.
Kevin passed away peacefully surrounded by a host of loving family and dear friends. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Such a genuine, memorable, gregarious, faith-filled, kind, caring, fun-loving, welcoming, phenomenal man. There are many other words or phrases that come to mind when describing Kevin like: spiritual, social, man of God, mischievous, entertainer, loving, hard worker, giver, great cook, the “ I’ll be there person”, community activist, family oriented, sensitive, art loving, and advice-giver to youth.
He was preceded in death by parents, and brothers Albert, Louis, and Arthur Stanley Paul. Left to grieve is his brother; Carl (Mary) Paul; sisters, Inez Paul Williams, and Gail (Stacey) Paul-Cook; Special Sister Nell Nobles-Lott; cousin-sister, Mildred (Ditanya) Jones; nephews, Carl Antoine (Tony) Paul, and Ekundayo Williams; nieces, Kimberly Phelps, Nimata Ericka Paul, Leslie (Nate) Rigby-Gaines, Patrice Paul, Keya Eliga, LaDonna Paul, Laurel Paul, and Danica Jones. Cousin-brothers, Derrick and Darrell Stovall, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.
We will miss his teasing, his sometimes cutting sarcasm, witty and loud comments, but always with a roll on the floor, funny sense of humor. He had a zest for life. Gone but never forgotten, we take heart in knowing that Kevin is soaring with the angels and watching over all those that loved and cared about him.
