In Loving Memory Of

Bettye J. Duckworth

Sunrise: January 2, 1933
Sunset: April 9, 2022

Bettye Miller (Hicks) Duckworth, 89 fell asleep in death on April 9, 2022.

Bettye was born in Gadsden, Alabama on January 2, 1933. She was the second of seven children.
She was a faithful Witness of Jehovah God for 67 years. She attended the Thornton Congregation. She was a sweetheart, loving and kind. She loved to garden, to sew and above all loved every one of her grandchildren!
Bettye now awaits a resurrection to a life on a paradise earth under the kingdom/government arrangement promised in the Lord’s Prayer. There, God’s son Jesus Christ urges us to pray, “Let your kingdom come let your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven”. During Christ’s 1000-year reign he promises that, “All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to a resurrection…and that under his divine rulership as the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing”. So, we look forward to welcoming her back with open arms to a cleansed, righteous new system of things where the “Meek shall inherit the earth and reside forever upon it”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Ora Miller; Johnny Dorsey, Tommy Hicks, Clarence Duckworth; sisters, Virginia Solomon, Norma Jean Mason and Doris Miller; brothers, Roddye Miller and grandson, Jason Pruiett and brother-in-law, Nathan Wyatt.

She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Gates-Ducksworth, Joyce (Larry) Shelton, and sons, Tommy (Rosa) Hicks, and Gregg Hicks; sisters, Alyce Wyatt, Sandra Hamilton; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
