Richard Earl Brooks, Jr. was born on May 5, 1955.  He answered his final call on Wednesday December 11, 2024.

Richard attended Akron Public Schools and graduated in 1973 from John R. Buchtel High School. Richard went on to attend and graduate from beauty school.  It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Diane. They were married on August 20,1988.  Richard was the hair stylist for many of his family members and friends while also working at Johnnie’s Beauty Salon on Copley Rd.  After his journey as a hair stylist, Richard became a machine operator until he retired.  Richard was a loving husband and father who loved his entire family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard, Sr. and Mary Ann Brooks; his grandmother, Matilda Jarrett; and his brothers, Darryll and Robert.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Diane; sons, Marcus and Marzell; siblings, Clifton (Kim-deceased), Patricia, Mary, Jeanette, Terrance (Towanda), Mark, Destry (Yvonne), and Matilda; 2 grandchildren; sisters in law, Virginia and Barbara; man’s best friend, CoCo; and a host of relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow.
