Allie Wims Sr. was born on December 10, 1939, in Marion, Alabama to the union of Willie and Alese Wims. He was the 7th of 8 children. The family moved to Akron, Ohio in the early 1950s. Allie met a young girl named Lola Mae Porter, whose family had also recently moved to Akron, Ohio. Allie, while at South High School where he lettered in both track and football; finally asked Lola to be his girl.
They were married soon after graduation and Allie enlisted in the United States Army, on October 1, 1958, stationed in Hawaii. Allie sent for his beautiful bride in 1959. To this union 3 children were born son, Allie (Dr. Yolanda Duncan) Wims; daughters, Felicia Ann (Otis Prince) Wims and Alisa Renee Wims- Cooper (Edward) Terrell; grandsons, Darrius Wims- Calloway, Allie Aaron Wims-Riley, Darshon Wims Calloway, Kenyon Cooper, and Dominique Cooper; granddaughters, Alease Cooper, Allison Wims, and Alexis Wims; sisters, Sadie Glover and Rose (Charles) Porter; sister-in-law and special friend, Fairly Vison-Fullmore; special nieces, Urmisteen Vinson and Renee Humphreys; best friend, Rudy Bell.
Allie is preceded in death by siblings, Lou David Wims, Willie Wims Jr., Louise Looney, Sarah Lindsey, and Mary Robinson.
