Annie W. “Ann” Young, 94, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024 at The Kensington of Anna Maria Nursing Facility in Aurora, Ohio. Ann was born on August 11, 1929 in Macon, Mississippi, to the union of Fred Sr. and Bobbie Lee Riddle.
Ann was known for her devotion to family and friends, embodying the roles of a devoted daughter, loyal sister, loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Family and friendships were important to her. She fondly remembered her experiences growing up in Macon before migrating with her family to Alliance in 1948. She met Reese Young and married him in 1952, supporting him in building a successful construction business. She learned to “be sweet” and the art of motherhood from her mother Bobbie Lee. Ann specialized as a patient caretaker nurturing the elderly and the young-uns alike. She shared her gift of helps and hospitality with grace and compassion. Ann never complained or gossiped but was always humble and appreciative for every act of kindness she received. Ann was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served in the Senior Choir, Willing Workers and as a Deaconess. She was also a member of Union of Mission and Starlite Chapter 83, Order of the Eastern Star.
Ann is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Fred Sr. and Bobbie Lee Riddle: loving husband of 60 years, Reese Young; firstborn daughter, Barbara Nicholson; all of her siblings Mildred Walker Williams, Samuel Walker, Hezekiah “Herman” Walker, Geneva Davis, Albert Riddle, Curtis Riddle Sr., Fred Riddle Jr., DeLois Nelson, and Edward Riddle; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy of love to her children, Karen (Robert) Madison of Twinsburg, OH, Cynthia (Mark) Smith of E.St. Louis, IL, Jason (Nasha) Young of Medina, OH; and special daughter Mary Williams of St. Louis, Mo., five grandchildren, Stephen (Caroline) Smith, Kevin (Alison) Smith, Jennifer (Zach) Chike, Delani, and Reese Young II. Great-grandchildren: Kendrick, Windsor, Cameron, Gabrielle, Mia, Sadie, Jeremiah, Leroy, Sedona, Stoni, and Spencer; three sisters in-love: Ola Riddle, Gloria Walker, and Anne Riddle; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
