With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann (Thornton) Phoenix, who peacefully left us on October 9, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on February 10, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, Barbara lived a life defined by love, resilience, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

On Valentine’s Day in 1969, Barbara married Harold Phoenix, the love of her life. Together, they raised four beautiful children, sharing ten years of marriage until Harold’s passing in 1979. Despite the challenges of life, Barbara’s strength, love, and commitment to her family remained steadfast, and she continued to be a guiding light for her children and all who knew her.

A proud graduate of South High School in Akron, Barbara was deeply cherished for her role as a mother, grandmother, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family, to whom she gave unconditional love and boundless support. Barbara was also known for her warmth and kindness, always offering a listening ear, a compassionate heart, and a home filled with love. She had a remarkable ability to bring out the best in everyone and was truly a beacon of light in the lives she touched.
Barbara found joy in traveling, going on cruises, and spending time at casinos with friends and family. Her infectious laughter and loving presence brought joy and happiness to those around her. Whether at home or abroad, Barbara lived her life with a sense of adventure, making lasting memories with the people she loved most.

She is survived by her adoring children, who were the center of her world, Tracy Brown, Troy Phoenix, Tonya (Fidel) Phoenix-Vetino (Fidel) and Terrell (Taimia) Phoenix. Barbara was a proud and loving grandmother to, Lawrence Frye Jr., Tierra (Aarron) Epps, Ashlee Brown, Leman (Bryonna) Brown, Terrance Robinson and Cherrell (Short) Phoenix.Her love also extended to her 23 grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Barbara treasured her time with family and friends, especially enjoying trips to the casino, traveling, and simply being in the company of those she loved most.

Barbara’s life was a testament to unconditional love, resilience, and boundless generosity. Her warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched the hearts of many, and her guiding light will continue to shine in the lives of her family and friends. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the countless lives she impacted.

Rest in peace, Barbara. Your love will forever remain in our hearts.
