Candice Louise Washington, born October 1, 1946, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Walter and Emily Dailey, was called home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2025. She was surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and compassion that touched the lives of many.
Candice was one of twelve children and grew up in a close-knit family. She married her high school sweetheart, Roderick Washington, on October 28, 1967. Together, they raised three children: Tori, Freedom, and Naja. Family was always at the heart of everything she did.
A proud graduate of Alliance High School, Candice pursued her passion for healthcare at Hannah E. Mullins School of Nursing. As a dedicated nurse for over 30 years, Candice cared deeply for her community. Her compassion and skill in caring for patients earned her the gratitude and admiration of many in Alliance, often receiving heartfelt thanks from those whose lives she had touched during her time in the hospital.
Candice’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she sought to model her life after His example, serving others with love and humility. As an ordained minister, Candice took joy in spreading the gospel, both at home and abroad. Her ministry work took her to Israel, Honduras, and Africa, where she was a beacon of hope and a teacher of faith, particularly in the areas of Covenant with God and Healing. She cherished the time spent with her special group of friends, whom she mentored and taught regularly, fostering spiritual growth and deepening her own faith along the way. Candice obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Theology
In addition to her professional and spiritual endeavors, Candice had a love for gardening and cooking. She was known for her green thumb and her ability to create a beautiful garden of flowers that brightened her front yard. Her culinary skills were unparalleled—whether preparing a meal for her family or baking her signature desserts—Apple Crisp and Lemon Cream Pie, she poured love into everything she made, turning simple ingredients into something extraordinary.
Candice’s life was a reflection of her love for Jesus, her family, and her community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faithfulness, and service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roderick, and her siblings Alvin, Nelson, Doris, and David.
