Carl “Buddy” Lane, aka “Uncle Buddy” and the “Blues Man” transitioned from earth on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

A 1962 graduate of Central High School, he excelled in football and other sports. He received All-City Honorable Mention Award in 1962 for football.

He was employed by Laborers Local 894 until illness prevented him from working. He loved music and in particular “The Blues”.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee Carter; siblings, Evelena (Enoch) Lockett, Beech “Pep” Ford Jr., Tommie Lee Bell, Barbara Jean Lane, Annie Louise Ford, Hattie Pierce, David Ford and Eulias Ford.

He is survived by one son, Carl (Cristina) of Eastampton, New Jersey; siblings, Henry (Mary) Carter and Jacqueline Ford- Wright of Akron, Oh; Rosemary (Jerome) Massey of St.  Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Carl III (Marissa) and Cynthia Lane of Mt. Holly, New Jersey, Chase an aspiring basketball player in the Philippines, one great granddaughter, Noelle Lane and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow.
