Catherine Freeman 99, lived to the phenomenal. She passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026.
Born on October 4, 1926, in Sumter, South Carolina. Catherine was the eldest of five siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.
She was a woman of determination, intelligence, and remarkable accomplishments whose life touched countless family members friends and colleagues.
Catherine graduated from Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
As a young woman she moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she resided at the Historic Phillis Wheatley house.
A trail blazer in her own right, she was among the first minority to work for General Electric Company, helping pave the way for future generations through her dedication and hard work.
She later married Rosevelt Freeman and together they built a thriving business opening and operating several Haberdasheries.
Catherine’s entrepreneurial spirit and business discernment, she continued to flourish throughout her life. She went on to become a top diamond salesperson for J B Robinson Jeweler’s, achieving the distinction of ranking third in the nation.
Catherine subsequently built an impressive real estate portfolio through her vision, discipline, dedication, and natural ability.
She built several homes, the last being her home, on the 19th hole at Aberdee.
Beyond her professional achievements Catherine embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. Weather playing Pinochle, poker, or another favorite game, she was a skilled opponent who could hold her own with the best of them.
Family and friends admired her sharp mind, competitive spirit, and her ability to bring people together around a card table. Catherine was also active in numerous social and organizations including the Wedgewood Golf Club Association where she enjoyed fellowship and lasting friendships.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Rhonda Freeman; niece, Jennifer Spain; God daughter, Cathy Britt along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver, Shirley Deane for her loving presence, patience, and devotion. Also, to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice team for their exceptional support, comfort, and kindness during Catherin’s final days.
Catherine Freeman lived a life defined by perseverance, achievement, generosity, and grace.
Her legacy of hard work, independence and love for family will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
