Christine Jones

Christine Jones departed this life on July 29, 2026, at the age of 85.

She was born on June 9, 1941, in McIntyre, GA to Alonzo and Fannie Smith. Her parents relocated to Akron, Oh when she as a young girl. Later in life she met Earnest Jones and married in 1959. They had six children before divorcing in 1977. She worked at Summa Health for 30 years before retiring in 2003. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing softball with her siblings and children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Fannie Smith; brothers, Bobby Smith, Herbert (Boo Joe) Smith, Alonzo (Junior) Smith Jr.; sister, Jerry Dean (Bernice) Smith; ex husband, Earnest Jones; daughters, Dianna Lynn (Diane) Whitehurst, Lisa Ann (Lisey) Jones Burton and grandson, De’Shawn (Shawn) Jones.

She leaves behind a myriad of loved ones. She leaves her brother, Larry Smith; sister, Elizabeth (Von) Smith; beloved children, Earnestine Jones Clopton, Earnest (Mann) Jones Jr.; Kim (Kitty) Fisher and Rodney Jones; grandchildren, Dashua Holliday, Daysha Jones, Mya Jones, Shamica (Deon) Samuel, William (Deona) Jones, De’Angelo Jones, Brandy Jones, Christie Jones, Jeremy Jones, Jermia Jones, Rodney Jones Jr., Brittney Fitzgerald, Antonio Jones and Randy Jones; 43 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; special friend, Roy Bickley and son-in-law, Anthony (Babe) Brooks as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Macedonia Baptist Church, 940 McKinley Ave. Akron, Oh 44306. Funeral service will immediately follow.
