David Jerome Johnson was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 13, 1956 to Betty Johnson and Dr. Berman Johnson. He attended Ram Junior High School and Berea High School where he was a star wrestler. He moved to Akron, Ohio as a young man, but later returned to his hometown of Berea, Ohio, a city he had a strong connection to.
David was a quiet, reserved man who enjoyed spending time alone. He was a big fan of the Browns and Cavaliers and just about anything Cleveland related. He always showed great concern for the younger generation, especially his nieces, nephews, and younger cousins.
He was employed by the Berea City School system and later by the West Lake City School system, retiring after many years of service in 2019.
The personnel at the schools he served as a custodian appreciated his kindness to others, his willingness to help and his gentle demeanor. His neighbors for the last 23 years expressed the same appreciation. He will be dearly missed.
