Mrs. Deanne Michelle Gooden-Riley was born on April 18, 1970, in Akron, Ohio. The daughter of the late James Edward Pryor and Mrs. Wanda Gooden-Ward. Deanne’s kind and giving nature, high work ethic, positive spirit, infectious laugh, and bubbly personality was truly a genetic collaboration of both her parents.
Deanne was extremely active in her youth. She participated in the marching band as the flag captain for Central Hower High School. Additionally, she was on the volleyball team. She developed an interest in business in high school. In later years, Deanne enjoyed shopping, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was always fashion conscious and stylish and made certain to include her favorite color: orange, within her ensemble.
Deanne graduated from Central Hower High School in 1989. She attended Akron University and pursued a degree in Business Management. She entered the workforce as a librarian technician and assisted with loan processing. She would later have a lengthy career working with adults with special needs.
Deanne received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a youth under the leadership of Reverend Jose of Community Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio. She was a youth director at the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research (IDMR), which she attended from 1989 until 2004.
On January 13, 1990, she married Billy Glass Sr., her high school sweetheart and through this union, Billy Glass II was born. Billy Glass II, affectionately known as “BG” was born on August 9, 2002, and BG is the “apple of Deanne’s eye”.
On July 21, 2014, Deanne married Justin Riley. Through this union, a blended family was created. The couple enjoyed traveling, concerts, and spending time together.
Mrs. Deanne Gooden-Riley leaves to cherish her memories, husband of ten years, Justin Riley; mother and stepfather, Mrs. Wanda Gooden-Ward (Jeremiah); son, Billy Glass II, “BG”; stepchildren, Xaiver, Ezekiel, and Mariah; sisters, Ingrid Pryor, Brandee Pryor; brothers, Dereke Hardy and Melvin Gooden. As well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Friends may call on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 11:00 am to noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Road, Akron, Ohio 44320. Funeral services will immediately follow.
