God’s beloved daughter, Deliah, affectionally known as Jo, entered her resting place on May 30, 2026, at the age of 84.
Deliah was born on February 4th, 1942, 4th child of 11, to the late Arthur and Sarah McCall, in Millbrook, Alabama.
Deliah worked at Akron General for a few years before going into the Dietary Dept at St Thomas Hospital where she spent almost 30 years before retiring. She truly enjoyed her years at St Thomas Hospital. She was a faithful member of Mt Calvary Baptist Church, and enjoyed her Bible Study with Dr. Kemp, until her decline & admission into The Arbors of Stow. Deliah was the first to leave the fold, and she married her first love, Milton Tabler, where from that union, came Milton Franklin Tabler, and Wilford Henry Tabler. Also, from that union came 3 more sets of Tabler/McCalls. Hence, the story of the 4 sets of double cousins. Deliah (as spelled on her birth certificate), but called Delilah by many, along with the nickname Jo, was a free-spirited auntie who loved to dance and socialize. She focused on her vibrant energy, love of music, especially Motown, her love of clothes, make-up, shoes, and her unapologetic zest for life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Franklin Milton Tabler; parents, Arthur and Sarah McCall; siblings, Darrell McCall, Mary Tabler, Charles McCall, Gloria Tucker, Mattie Stewart, Sandra James, LeCount McCall, Ezzard McCall, and extended siblings, Frances Reid and Benny Fountain.
She is survived by her son, Wilford Henry Tabler; sisters, Lillie Evans and Carlisa (Kurt) Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, OH 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow. Internment Greenlawn Cemetery.
