Dollie Gray, a beloved resident of Alliance, Ohio, passed away on October 10, 2024, in Canton, Ohio. He was born on March 27, 1930, in East Palestine, Ohio.
Dollie was full of life and known for his great sense of humor. He attended Capt Taggart Elementary School, Alliance Junior High, and graduated from Alliance High School in 1949. He furthered his education at Mt. Union College and Kent State University. A proud member of the Alliance High School football team, Dollie also enjoyed golfing and bowling throughout his life.
Dollie was the owner of Jiffy Car Wash with his brother Rome and worked for the United Postal Service in Pittsburgh, PA, before retiring from Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, OH, after 33 years of dedicated service.
He is survived by his two daughters, Leslie Gray-Stovall (Frederick Stovall, Jr.) and Allison Gray of Canton, OH, and one son, Jeffrey Gray (Rattan) of Colorado Springs, CO. Dollie also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Devereaux Dennis, Dahari Gray, Iesha Gray, Lorenna Saldivar, Aaliyah Gray, Janae Gray, Savannah, and Kali Olivares, along with seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Jean Flynn of California.
Dollie was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Lillian Jefferson Gray, whom he married on September 13, 1958, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Gray and Julia Ward Gray, as well as nine brothers: Jesse, Thomas, Lloyd, Romie, Artil, Samuel, Harold, Chester, and Glenn, and three sisters: Henrietta, Eloise, and Daneen.
Dollie will be remembered fondly by his family and the community he cherished.
