In Loving Memory Of

Dorrine Wilson Allen

Sunrise: October 30, 1944
Sunset: January 15, 2026

Dorrine Wilson was born October 30, 1944, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Roland and Fannie
Wilson. She was educated in the Youngstown City Schools and graduated from South high School
in 1962, where she formed lifelong friendships, including her cherished bond with the CMCs
alongside best friends Darlene Wilson and Delores Jennings.

Dorrine accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Greater Friendship Baptist
Church in Youngstown. In 1970, she married Earl Allen and together they raised two children,
Cortland and Felecia.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Dorrine held several jobs throughout her life, including
positions as an elevator operator, bakery employee and telephone operator. Her career flourished
when she joined the Telephone Company, later known as Ohio Bell. In 1985, her management role
led to a relocation to Akron, Ohio where she continued her walk with God as a member of New
Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Dorrine completed an impressive 35-year career with AT&T,
retiring from the Twinsburg, Ohio location.

Dorrine truly enjoyed life. She loved traveling, dancing, playing cards and bowling. Bowling was
one of her greatest passions and she was actively involved in numerous leagues, including the
Monday Night Ladies League (The Rockettes), Friday Night Church League, the National Bowling
Association (TNBA) and the National Traveling Bowling League (NTBL) in both Youngstown and
Rubber City. She was also civically engaged, serving as an active member of the Akron Chapter of
the NAACP and proudly attending the inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, DC
in 2009.

In 2011, Dorrine moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to be closer to her children. There she continued
her spiritual journey as a devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church. She remained active with the
NAACP and volunteered as a poll caller during election seasons. Though not much for gambling,
she did enjoy the occasional game of bingo.

In the early morning hours of January 15, 2026, Dorrine peacefully transitioned to her heavenly
home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Fannie Wilson; her husband, Earl
Allen; and her beloved son, Cortland Allen.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Felecia (eric) Frierson, daughter-in-love,
Stacie Allen; five granddaughters, Sheleia Allen, Jessica Allen-Beard, Shayla Allen, Brynn Allen and
Kiara Frierson; three great-grandchildren, Ariana Allen, Dominic Henderson and Carter Scott; her
goddaughter, Jaclyn (Curtis) Carter-Reed; and a host of cousins, extended family members and
dear friends too numerous to name.

Dorrine will be remembered for her strength, grace, faith, love for family, fellowship and service.
Her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695
Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow.
