Edward Lanier Brown, better known as “Bozy”, was born May 31, 1970, in Akron, OH, to Sandra Brown and Ulysses Wells. Edward Brown “Bozy” lived in the Akron area his entire life. He graduated from Firestone High School in 1988, and later earned his Associates of Arts degree from Ohio State University and later acquired a barber’s license.
Bozy loved life and greeted everyone with an attitude of making the most out of that day. He always had a plan for the day. He always took a moment with his nieces and nephews ensuring they knew they were heard, and he cared. They all felt he was a great uncle. He was not perfect but who is? Bozy was an example of a righteous man, because as the scripture tells us “a righteous man can fall seven times and rise up again” (Proverbs 24:16). Bozy fell many times and we all continued to watch him get back up again, always with enthusiasm and hope. Bozy depicted not only a righteous man, but a man of faith because he had great hope. “Faith being the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
He is preceded in death by his father Ulysses Wells. He is survived by his sons Kaine Brown and Shane Brown; his mother Sandra Brown, his siblings Kevin Brown, Elliott R. Wells, and Patricia Wells; his life-long partner of more than 30 years, Rebecca Keith; and aunts Gaynelle Hunt, Elouise Washington, Ava Miller, Thea Johnson, Robin Fields, uncle Michael Wells, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.
