acob Henderson aka Teddy or The Pie Man was born October 1, 1945, to George and Lulu Henderson in Demopolis, Alabama.
Teddy attended U.S. Jones High School and went on to attend the Job Corp where he became a lifeguard and developed his skills for baking pies.
Teddy came to Akron, Ohio in 1967 and became an employee of Chrysler Corporation and an employee of the City of Akron. Teddy was a faithful member of the New Trinity Missionary Church of Akron, Ohio. Teddy enjoyed swimming, playing tennis, baking pies and he loved buying clothes and dressing up.
Teddy was preceded in death by parents, George, and Lulu Henderson; sisters, Catherine (Leroy) Smoot Sr., Viola (Eddie) Haskins Sr., and brothers, George Henderson Jr. and Robert Henderson; special uncle, Johnnie Edward Harris (aka Uncle Honey); nephews, Leroy Smoot Jr., Gregory Smoot, Jimmy Jerome Gray, and Dewayne Haskins and great nephew, Robert T. Wharton Jr. and special cousin, Barbara Ann Douglas.
Jacob is survived by son, Dorell Johnson and daughter, Taylor D. Taylor and nephews, Larry (Daneen) Smoot, Charles (Renetta) Smoot, David (Helen) Smoot, Donald (Karen) Gray, Eddie Haskins Jr. (aka Bennie) and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Ohio 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow. Interment Glendale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 1482 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320.
