Jalisa Alexandra Buchanan went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2023.Jalisa was born March 16, 1994, in Akron, Ohio, to Alexandra Wright-Thomas and John Buchanan.

Jalisa was a 2012 graduate of Firestone High School. After graduating high school, Jalisa attended LaRock Healthcare Academy in Twinsburg, Ohio, where she earned her State Tested Nurse Aid (STNA) certification. After completing her training, Jalisa was employed by Bath Manor and Rockynol as an STNA.

She recently attended Ross College in Canton, Ohio, where she completed the Nursing Assisting Program. Jalisa was a longtime participant of Youth Excellence Performing Arts Workshop (YEPAW) and YEPAW 365, where she loved to praise the Lord through singing and dancing. Her absolute favorite workshop was dance! In addition, she was a lifelong member of The House of The Lord under the pastorate of Bishop F. Josephus Johnson II.

Jalisa enjoyed spending time with her children. She enjoyed creating fun activities for her and her children, trying new recipes from TikTok, and creating precious memories that her children will treasure and hold dear.

Jalisa was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, U.L. McKinnie; maternal great-great-grandmother, Thelma Satterwhite; and paternal great-grandfather, John H. Buchanan.

Jalisa is survived by her mother, Alexandra “Star” (Damon) Wright-Thomas; father, John Buchanan; brother, Desmond Jacobs; and half-siblings, Ronald Roper, Kayln Skinner, Korchae Dubose, Jordan Buchanan; maternal grandmother, Marquita (Steve) Byars; paternal grandmother, Arverta Buchanan; children, Makenzie, Erin, Madison, London, Kori J., Corey; four special aunts, Angela Gibbons, Ebony Brooks, Nakeeta Coleman, and Valecia Pickett; a special sister, Jasmine Scott; and many more who loved her and will forever cherish her memory.
