JoAnn McWilson was called home early Monday morning on November 20, 2023.
She was born April 3, 1951, in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of Joseph B. and Ruthie B. (Fudge) Nether.
JoAnn was a proud 1969 graduate of South High School where she played an integral role in planning their class reunions for several years.
JoAnn was a hard worker, she entered the workforce as a teenager, working for Foy’s Barbecue. Ultimately, she began her career as one of the first women hired at General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio in 1971. She was employed with them for 33 years. She also became a licensed realtor in the state of Ohio in 1986.
She was a previous member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church. While there, she was a faithful and active member in several ministries to include being one the first women selected for the Trustee Board.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing crafts, and online shopping for the latest fashions and electronics.
JoAnn is sadly missed by her loving and devoted daughter, Takiyah McWilson Daniels; son in law, David Daniels; her only granddaughter Kaiyah all of Bowie, Maryland; brother, Lanzy Nether (Sonequa) of Canton, MI, and Curtis Nether of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She leaves two special cousins with whom she grew up with, Ben Walker and Carrie Wilson of Columbus, Georgia; best friends, Debra North Sommerville and Rebecca Brown who lovingly cared for her during her illness and several other sister-friends, relatives, and extended family.
Waiting to greet her in eternity her son, Omari McWilson, her parents, Joseph and Ruthie Nether.
