John H. Roberts of Akron, Ohio was born on December 16, 1933 and was called home on December 19, 2020.

He was born in Atlanta, GA to Irene and John Roberts and relocated to Akron, Ohio at a young age. He was a graduate of South High School. He worked for and retired from Babcock and Wilcox and while there he climbed the ranks to become the first black President of Babcock and Wilcox Local 900. He was a man with a strong faith and belief in God as well as a long standing faithful member of St. Ashworth Temple COGIC and attended regularly until his health began to fail. Anyone that knew him also knew that he was well versed and could recite any scriptures of the bible and give teaching along the way. After retirement he kept himself busy by working at Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home, tinkering in his yard and enjoying family and friends, he also had a passion for good food and nice cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Emma Roberts; sister, Dorthy Burke; brother, John T. Roberts; great grandson, Ronald Roberts II; granddaughter, Thai Lynn Powe.

He leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Carolyn (Chester) Johnson, Sharon Robinson (Charles Guice); sons, James Richard Roberts, Ronald Roberts, Donald (Keicha) Robinson Jr. and Edward Robinson and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special friend, James Williams and a host of loving family and friends. The family would like to thank everyone for all the kind words of encouragement and prayers during this difficult time.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Private services will immediately follow.
