Lillian J. “Coot” Prince passed away after a courageous battle with liver cancer October 8, 2020.

She was born in Aliceville, Ala. On March 16, 1929 to the late Jessie and Fannie Mae Goodman. She was a former member of the People’s Baptist Church where she was an inaugural member of the first Senior Choir. She was previously employed by Scheneeberger Realty and was a licensed Foster Care Provider for Summit County Children’s Services. The job she absolutely adored was raising, loving and protecting her children. She lived in East Akron for more than 50 years. During this time, she had a major impact on the community at-large and on countless individual lives. She loved the Lord and ensured that all of her children were religiously educated and knew the Lord. Her favorite gospel hymn to lead in the choir was “Fill My Cup”. Before her health began to decline, she also loved to dance, fish and to support her family’s various endeavors (sports, school, church, etc.). She would never just say, I will see you tomorrow or see you later, she would preface the statement with “if I live and nothing happens,” I will see you later or I will see tomorrow.

She was preceded in death by husband, Matthew Prince, all of her siblings – Rev. Dr. George W. Goodman, Roosevelt Goodman, James Goodman and Katie Hairston, Children – Lawrence Prince, Michael Prince Sr. and Belinda Conner, Grandsons Bobby Prince Jr and Brandon Funk, Cousin Dorothy Vinson.
