Lynette Thompson was affectionately known as Nessie, Nett, L.T. and Doll quietly went to sleep in Christ Jesus on October 29, 2020.
Lynette( a fraternal twin) was born in Ferndale Michigan on August 2, 1952, to the late Leonard and Dorothy Porter. The family relocated shortly to Akron, Ohio. She was a graduate of Central-Hower High School in 1971 where she met the love of her life, Frankie Thompson( her high-school sweetheart). They were married for 44 years and to this union, 3 beloved children were born.
She was a member of the Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church and served In the hospitality department She also was a member of the Bethel Ladies Club. She was employed at Wyant Woods Care Center for over 30 years where she took great pride in loving on her residence. She often took pleasure in purchasing items her residents needed. She retired from Wyant Woods Care Center in June of 2015.
Nessie loved cooking and helping anybody in need. She loved playing games with her children and family. She enjoyed her (late) dog mugsy, loved being dolled-up, loved candy;
(Kept a private stash of it), banana popsicles, socks, perfume of any sort, the birthday club, riding in the church van, being chauffeured around, laughter, playing kickball, jax, tunk( with her change purse), word search puzzles, Olive Garden, Cleveland Browns, Golden State Warriors, Aretha Franklin, and T.V. Land. She loved calling her children and grandchildren each and every day and being the first to know what was going on in their lives.
She was a hands-on Grandmaw, Gam-Bam, Gram-Gram, and Gram with her grandkids and great grandson, that she truly adored. She was also super excited to meet the newest addition of her great-grandsons. She was a beloved aunt by her nieces and nephews. She had an amazing spirit that lit up a room with strength, love, and courage that was unmatched. She will truly be missed!
Lynette is preceded in death by parents Leonard and Dorothy Porter, sister. Patricia Wheeler, brother Terrence Porter and granddaughter IJay Belle.
She was known as an avid nick-namer. She leaves to cherish her fondest memories: husband Frankie (Frank) Thompson, daughters Twna (Iii doll) Maurice Belle, Fanta {Lull) Chris Weems,and son Frankie (Snoop) Porter. Grandchildren: rJanay( tall tree) Abel Duronville, Maurice II ( bugger) Fiancee Shayna. llere (kitty, kit, the cat) Weems, Christopher( Iii fella) Weems, Great grandson Carter {peenie) Weems. Siblings: Samuel {Antoinette), Chuckle (Willie-Ruth) Porter, Leonard Porter Jr., Douglas (Shauna) Porter, Francine( Ronald) Pearson, Felicia (Bernard) Penny, Garland Porter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many dear friends.
