Sunrise: July 12, 1951

Margaret Louise Phifer- Hardaway, went home to be with the Lord, after a brief illness July 14, 2023. Margaret was born July 12,1951, in Columbus, MS. She worked several years for Tangiers, Smoke Pitt, as well as Subway.

Margaret was definitely an angel on Earth. A beautiful loving gem. You could always depend on her for encouragement, prayer, and help. The Lord was her life and it’s evident because in 1989 she was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost at Refuge Tabernacle of the Apostolic Faith. Over the last seven years she was a faithful member of First Apostolic Faith Church.

Margaret was a prayer warrior who lived her life upright before the Lord. She was definitely anointed, and her poetry would leave you amazed and encouraged. She was definitely a virtuous woman, and her children called her blessed (Proverbs 31:28-31). She led by example, and Octavia has definitely been following her lead.

Hallelujah is my praise was definitely more than a phrase for her it was a lifestyle. She could be heard throughout the house praying and praising God. A true radical worshipper! If you need to know what a true Woman of God is her life was evidence of being one. Mom was truly a gift from God and the world was blessed 72 years with her. Her favorite songs were, “Jesus You’re the Center of My Joy”, and you deserve it. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 61.

Momma accepted all our friends and was referred to as Momma or Auntie. She always was packing lunches feeding our whole class. She loved everyone and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Jessie Phifer and Sarah Mae Amos. Her son De’Forest Phifer, her brother Oil Lee Amos.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; loving son, who will miss her dearly, Milton Hardaway Jr; devoted daughter, who served as her caregiver whom she affectionately called Twiggy Mae, Min. Octavia Hardaway; Grandchildren, De’Forest, Daze, De’Briel, Da’Liyah, Milliona, and her baby Major; Step mom, Catherine Phifer; Spiritual Mother, Mamie Toole; sisters, Grace Hill, Linda J, Linda K (OB), Clairista Phifer, Kathleen Phifer, Sarah (Mark) Franklin, and Michelle (George) Thomas; brothers, Jesse Phifer, Arthur Gene Amos, Terry Amos, Dennis Amos, and Reginald Phifer; auntie, Alice Amos; her dearest cousin, Della Amos; special friends, Sheilah, Priscilla, Sis Sykes, Sis Minni, Sis Eleanor, and Sis. Lottie; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Private services will be held per the family’s request.
