Marlene Lenore Kirksey, 59, of Alliance, Ohio passed away after a brief illness on Friday August 25, 2023. She was born the first of a set of triplets on August 3, 1964, in Alliance. She is preceded in death by her father, William Joseph Babb; her mother, Margaret McKnight Kirksey; her eldest sister, Judith Ann Kirksey-Cooper; and one of her triplet sisters, Marilyn Louise Kirksey.
Marlene received her degree in Physical Education at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, and worked at the Alliance YMCA for many years. More recently she was an employee of the Group Home of Alliance.
Marlene was the “tomboy” of the triplets. She enjoyed sports and other outdoor activities. One of her loves was skateboarding, a skill she developed in college. Marlene particularly enjoyed watching football; she was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She loved surfing the internet and playing computer games.
She leaves to cherish her memories brother, Sanford T. Kirksey, Jr. (Karen) of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister Michelle Denise Kirksey of Alliance; nieces – Sonya Kirksey – Pascley (Columbus, OH); Keaira Kirksey (Alliance); Candace (Kirksey) White (John) (New Rochelle, NY); Patrice Kirksey (New York, NY); nephews Antonio (Renata) Ferguson (Maryland); Freece Cooper (Akron); Duane “DJ” Kirksey (Alliance); great-nieces – Amee Roberts (Akron); Shaunte Roberts (Columbus, OH); Destene Jackson (Akron); Jasmine Cooper (Akron); Faith Kirksey (Akron); Autumn Kirksey (Akron); Aryanna Ferguson (Maryland); Ty’Ara Junius (Akron); Tyshaun Junius (Akron); Meoinna Love (Alliance) and great-nephews – Floyd “Red” Roberts, Jr. (Alliance); Maurice Kirksey (Akron), Damon Jackson II (Akron); Leonte Cooper (Akron); Tywon Junius (Akron), Tyran Junius (Akron); Khalil Love (Alliance); Khi’meir Kirksey (Alliance); Miles White (New Rochelle, NY); Theodore White (New Rochelle, NY) and many other relatives, coworkers and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Alliance City Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow.
