In Loving Memory Of

Perry Bell

Sunrise: October 1, 1968
Sunset: January 19, 2025

Perry Lynn Bell, 56, of Canton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 19, 2025.

Born on October 1, 1968, in Alliance, Ohio, Perry was the beloved son of the late Daisy Lightner Bell and George L. Bell II. He attended Alliance City Schools and graduated from Alliance High School, where he was a standout athlete. Widely recognized as one of the most talented all-around athletes to attend the school, his exceptional skills on the football field and basketball court remain legendary throughout the city and county.

Perry’s natural athleticism, quick reflexes, and flexibility contributed to his outstanding sports career. He still holds multiple records at Alliance High School, including the most rushing yards in a season (1,258), most receptions in a game (10), and most yards in a single game (310 against East Liverpool).

Beyond his love for sports, Perry was an enthusiastic competitor in many games, enjoying poker, pool, ping pong, and Spades—where his “table talk” was more memorable than his strategy because he always under bid and “sandbagged” most of his hands. He was a passionate sports fan and an avid sports bettor, always confident in his abilities across all competitions.

Perry’s memory will be cherished by his seven children: Letitia Drue and Jasmin Jefferson of Canton, Ohio; J’Donte Devers of Ravenna, Ohio; Kierstan Bell of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sarrick Sampson of Alliance, Ohio; Mia Golden of Columbus, Ohio; and Alec of Salem, Ohio; grandchildren, Tavion Travis and DaleVon Hatcher. He is also survived by seven siblings: Tomella (Albert) Carter, Allen (Gloria) Thigpen, Roberta (Melvin) Adger, Sonia (Ron) Douglin, Melvin Lightner, Richard Thigpen, and Kimberly Barnes; close nephew, Diquante Dickerson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Special friends, Vance Edwards, Damicka Adkins and Jennifer Gallegos, held a significant place in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Vincent Thigpen, Garnetta Thigpen, Gene Thigpen, and William Thigpen, who passed away unexpectedly just 12 days before Perry.

The family of Perry L. Bell sincerely thanks everyone for their prayers, calls, messages, and acts of kindness during this time of loss.

Friends may call Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, at Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God In Christ. Funeral services will immediately follow at noon. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
