Ralph Michael Turner was born August 30, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio to Ralph and Ezell Turner. He was called home on August 10, 2022.
The Turner family moved from Toledo, Ohio to Akron, Ohio in 1959. Although Ralph was his first name, he liked to be referred to as Michael or Mike. The eldest of seven, Michael did not have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped his parents and worked odd jobs he could find starting at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to a career with the City of Akron. Mike was an operator for the City of Akron for over thirty years until he retired in 2005.
During his tenure, he grew skilled in the art of carpentry, engineering, and mechanics. Michael was a well-rounded individual. He taught himself how to rehab a complete house, and how to rebuild engines on cars. More than anything, he loved working with his brothers and being around his family. He always was there to give advice even when you didn’t want to hear it. When you needed to borrow money, he would give you a loan with an exceptionally long explanation of why you should be saving your money.
Michael was saved through the ministry of the late Roger and Annie Greer at the Miracle Revival Fellowship Church. He met his former wife at the church, the two were devoted Christians and was married in 1974.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ezell Turner; brother, Lawrence Keith Turner; sister, Sheila Burton; and son, Michael Lee Turner.
He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Racheal (Lamar) Turner-Jones, Renia Turner and Rebecca Turner; brothers, Steven Turner, Richard (Sharon) Turner and Glen Turner; sister, Patricia (Mark) Drone; brother-in-law, Terrance Burton Sr; six grandchildren and one great-grand child; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
