Rickey N. Smith, age 61, peacefully transitioned from this life on January 5, 2026. Born on March 13, 1964, Rickey lived a life rooted in faith, creativity, and devotion to family.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Rosie and James Smith; his brother, James H. Smith Jr.; and Almond Cox.

Rickey was a faithful and devoted Deacon of Central Starlight Baptist Church, where he served with humility and commitment. Known for his deep love of music, he was also a talented DJ who brought joy to countless gatherings. In addition, Rickey was a gifted builder, admired for his skillful hands, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. Whether through his faith, his craft, or his music, Rickey left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his significant other, Paulette Wade (Smith); his children, Tana (Michael) Lucas, Daniel Lloyd, Darion (Tammy) Smith, Napriyah Smith, Briyona Smith, Daeshaunna, Daeshaun, and Damonee; his beloved grandchildren, Eisrick Jr., Nar’Shay, Darion Jr., Dominique, Nyla, Jaylen, and Daniel Lloyd Jr.; and his great-grandsons, Namareon and Eisrick Jr. II; his sisters, April (Donald) Sherman and Annette (Laron) Sledge-Bey; his brother, Alexander Cox; his nieces and nephews, Tyrone Vickers, Victor (Tierria) Cox, Terance (Kim) Vickers, and Journee; special friends, David and Walter; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Rickey N. Smith will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous spirit, and the love he poured into his family and community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320.
