Rowena (Harris) Coker joined her heavenly Father on March 25, 2021
She was born to the late George and Fannie Harris on April 16, 1950. A lifetime resident of Akron, Oh, she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age under the pastorate of Rev. T.H. Bell; later joining Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Roy W. Gary where she served faithfully in many capacities. Under her leadership, the RWG Choir was organized leading many young people to sing praised unto God.
Rowena was a proud graduate of the class of 1969 at South High School. She was employed and retired with over 30 years of dedicated service at Ford Motor Company. Rowena was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Clarence Coker; daughter, Tammy Harris; grandson, Romen Harris; sister, Georgia Merryweather and brothers, James Hunt and George Harris Jr.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sherlon Harris; sister, Albertha Walker; adopted daughter, Audrey (Phil) White; niece, Lisa Jones; great aunt and uncle, Bernice and Dewitt Herring, Sr.; god daughter, Lasha Franklin; extended family, Iris (Eric) Nevins, Morse Family, Pastor Larry Brooks and a host of nieces nephew and friends.
