Ruth Reese was born to the late Mance and Ressie Garrett Lynch on June 26, 1926 in Ashland, Alabama. She received her early education at Ashland Junior High School and completed cosmetology training in Talladega, Alabama. After relocating to Akron, her occupation and church affiliation gave her the opportunity to meet numerous people in the community.
A faithful servant, Ruth loved serving the Lord, sharing her testimony about His goodness in her life. She was a previous member of Antioch Baptist Church and Coburn Street Church of God. Over 20 plus years, she has been a devoted member of the Arlington Church of God serving as a faithful member of the Women of the Church of God (WCG) and funeral ministry.
Ruth was a great cook and her specialty was her award winning pound cake. She always loved entertaining family and her home was the main gathering place during holidays. She loved fishing and planting flowers. Ruth kept a well-manicured yard at her home on Edgewood where she received numerous awards for “Keep Akron Beautiful”.
Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, Jessie and Abraham Lynch; sisters, Matilda Ann Lynch, Irene Clark and Rosie L. Kerney; husbands, Robert Benson and George Reese; daughter, Dianne Bronner and granddaughter, Anntoinette Reese.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Ruth A. Scott and Peggy (Ted) Kight; son, George (Julia) Reese, and adopted daughter, Belinda Hinton; sisters, Elizabeth Mosley, Akron, OH and Cealie Smith, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Edward (Gwen) McIntyre, Tai (Buddy) Stephens, George Reese III, Tonya Burke, Stephanie (Todd) Webb, Daryl Scott, and Kenneth (Denise) Roper and David (Berdette) Roper, Murfreesboro, TN; 8 grandchildren; 7 great, great grandchildren and 3 goddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
