Sandra “Sandy” Gail Dixson (Walker), of Akron, Oh, peacefully passed away on May 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born February 19, 1959, in Hardaway, FL, Sandy was a proud graduate of Chattahoochee High School class of 1977. Shortly after she moved to Akron, Oh, making it her home for the next 45 years and final resting place.

She dedicated over 35 years to serving adults with disabilities, retiring from Summit DD after 27 years of meaningful work. A woman of deep faith, Sandy was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church and lived her life with strength, grace, and love. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren during “Granny’s Days.” She loved holidays, backyard evenings, and quiet moments of reflection. Sandy found daily hope in life’s small pleasures, including playing the lottery and the companionship of her beloved dog, Tiger.

Sandy is preceded in death by her mother, Johnine Mae Goodson; stepfather, Ferris Goodson Sr.; brothers, Ferris Goodson Jr. and Willie Britt, and former husband, Marion “Skip” Dixson III.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Shannon Dugal, Tamika (Michael Jr.) Green, and Marian Dixson; grandchildren, Janei Wright, Kyree Matthew, Zavion and Zoii Green, Camiah Tribble, and Ayaan Dugal; sister, Carolyn Brown-Alexandar; brother, Cedric Goodson; best friend, Beatrice Jones; and a host of family and friends.

Sandy’s light, love, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church, 1706 S. Hawkins Ave. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow.
