Walter Evans, 63, of Akron, passed away, February 12th of 2021 from a brief battle with Covid-19.
He was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 6th, 1957. Walter graduated from Buchtel High School.
Not only was Walter an amazing father, he was also a loving paw-paw, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and coach. Coach Evans, also known as coach push-up, found a passion in coaching football for multiple organizations such as South Rangers, Buchtel Griffins, West Griffins, and Akron Titans. Walter coached for over 25 years and found potential in so many during their youth. He was a coach beloved by many. He was a strong-willed man that always brought out the best of any person he spoke with. He stole the hearts of many. He was a fighter and we know that he fought for his life. He is watching over all of us now. Coaching us from up in heaven; yelling, cheering, and clapping at the TV in the sky.
Our dad was many things, but to us, he was just dad. The dad that made us do work outs every night, that took us to football practices to show his football players how his little girls could do more, and better push-ups than them. The dad that had us thinking we were meant to be a basketball star and was going to grow to be so tall. He was the kind of father who wanted to make sure that his children were everything we needed to be; strong, smart, beautiful little girls. Our dad was a coach in so many aspects of his life, and we will forever cherish the advice and strength he gave to us. He was loved, so incredibly loved by everyone who ever met him.
He was survived by his children, Alisha Nelson, Jasmine Salter, Alexis Evans, and Aliyah Evans; grandchildren, Ja’Nya, Austin, Aubrey, and Avery; mother, Ella Lue Evans; siblings, Monroe Evans, Priscilla Boutte, Wilbert (Dearest) Evans, Lue Ella Prince, Juanita (Elias) Gichana, Anthony Evans, Dora (Curtis) Lewis, Carl Thomas, Winfred, Mark, April, Monte and Alexis Evans; life partner, Tracy Borrell and a host of god children, family and friends.
