Walter Lee Sparks 74, passed on February 20, 2024.

He was born to the late Richard Rushin and Goldie Sparks. He retired from the Army after serving 23 years. He also served his community as an Akron Police officer. He retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center, where he was a Police officer there for over 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 40 years, Earnestine Sparks; brother, William (Billy) Sparks.

Walter leaves to mourn his death brother, Richard Sparks and children, Walter Lee Burch Sparks, Raymond P. McCloude, Shannon Duncan, Lauri Haugabrook, and a host of grandchildren, relatives, and friends that will truly miss him.

Friends may call on Tuesday February 27, 2024, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow. Interment Ohio Western Reserve.  Our family would like to thank the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center Hospice Heroes Care Team. Also thank you to everyone that called, texted or sent a prayer.
