Jessie Mae Meadows, 84, went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2022. Jessie was born in Mangham, LA to Charlie and Hattie Rhone. She attended and graduated from Mangham High School in Mangham, Louisiana. Prior to her short illness, Jessie was an avid member of the Hillwood Block Club and a dedicated worker for the Buchtel Griffins Booster Club. Jessie was also a longtime fan of Lebron James.
Jessie met the love of her life, Joe Meadows and married in July 1958. To that union was born 6 children.
Jessie retired with 30 years of service from Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities. After retirement, she became an avid traveler and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jessie enjoy cooking up gourmet meals. Her favorite dishes to cook were her pound cake and her dressing. Family and friends readily put in request for some of signature dishes. Jessie also enjoyed sewing.
Jessie gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was a long time member of United Baptist Church where she served in the Courtesy and Senior Saints Ministry. Jessie loved her family and friends. Jessie enjoyed life to the fullest, and often when you would see her you would see her with her daughter (Zanarie). Jessie met back up with Zanarie and they are “back together again”.
Jessie is preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Hattie Rhone; stepmother, Nancy Rhone; her husband, Joe Meadows; children, Darrell (Desiree Reeves) and Zanarie, and siblings, Nathaniel Rhone and Lilly (Clyde) Schoby, and a host of other relatives.
Jessie is survived by her children, Paula (Odell) Fennell of Converse, TX, Veronica (Leonard) Meadows Shepherd, Milous Meadows all of Akron, OH, and Rodney (Tracy) Meadows of Conyers, GA; sister-in-law, Hazel Rhone, Cleveland, OH. In addition, she has 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Jessie was also a surrogate mother and grandmother to many in the community.
