Derrick D. Edwards entered the physical realm on September 4, 1967.
On November 12, 2023, he was welcomed into the spiritual realm by his father, George Edwards and mother, Mary Patrick.
Derrick was born in Akron, Ohio and split his childhood between Akron, Ohio and Philadelphia, PA.
Derrick was affectionately known as Bo.
He enjoyed life. His children were his everything, he lived for them. He loved to laugh, joke, dance and have fun. And without hesitation would provide words of encouragement to others. He was the light in every room he walked in. He loved as much, if not more, than he was loved.
His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. He became “Uncle Bo” to strangers who quickly became friends. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and even convinced others to join the Steeler Nation.
His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. He did not complain or shed a tear. His last words were “everything will be alright”. Despite the pain, Bo came out as hero and stayed strong until the end. We will honor his legacy by living our lives to the fullest.
Bo had the honor and privilege to love and be loved by his stepmom, Bertha Edwards; his children, Derrick Jr. (Denaijha), Diante, Destiny, Bryson, Bryeona, and Brylee; grandchildren, Avanti, De Asyia, Derrick III, Dior and Jenesis; siblings, Roseanna, Lonnie, Mary (Robert), Ernest, Andrea (Derick), India and Matthew and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and friends who became family.
Goodbyes are not forever; they are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.
