David Biddings

September 23, 1943 – June 30, 2026

David Biddings, 82, passed away on June 30th, 2026. He passionately professed his love to family and friends before drawing his final breath.

David was born in Akron on September 23, 1943. After graduating from South High, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He earned medals for good conduct and his contributions to the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged after 6 years of service.

When he returned to Akron, David worked at the United States Post Office for 31 years. He continued to earn awards and recognition for his exemplary work. Here he met Thelma, the “lady of his dreams.” He and Thelma spent 55 blessed years as husband and wife. They raised 3 sons and 1 daughter and are very proud of them.

Many know Dave as a sports enthusiast with a hat collection to prove it! He was fiercely devoted to Ohio sports teams, win or lose. He held this same loyalty with his loved ones. Whether you were struggling or soaring, Dave always celebrated you.

He was a man of many talents and interests. His skilled hands could build or repair anything. He had a life-long fascination with technology. He knew how to find the latest gadget before it became a trend. He loved music and lit up the dance floor whenever he had the chance.

David was deeply rooted in God. He and Thelma joined the House of the Lord during the “JC Penny Era” in 1981. He had a great reverence for the bible and was a lifelong student of Elder Johnson Sr. and Bishop Johnson’s teachings.

David’s bright eyes and warm laugh made you feel seen, supported, and significant. Whether you called him “Dave,” “Mr. B,” “Pops,” “MacGyver,” “Smuuv,” “Uncle Dave,” “Grandpa,” or “Mr. Biddings,” he would respond with kindness.

David was preceded in death by: his parents, Willie and Daisy Biddings; siblings, Willie “Bo” Biddings, James Foster, Tiny Biddings, Geraldine McBeth, Willie Biddings, Delores Davis, Jean Johnson, Marica Gould Parks, and Lutitia Jackson.

He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife, Thelma Biddings, his sons, Carl (Tabitha) Anderson, David Biddings II, Kenyon(Venita) Biddings, daughter Natasha (Michael) Toles, special niece/baby sister Melody Lee, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, beloved relatives, in-laws, extended family and dear friends.

David’s life is a masterclass on how to love deeply, live with intention, and die with dignity.
