Samuel (Sam) Earl Allen, loving father of three beautiful children, was called to his home on Saturday April 4th, 2020. he was 53 years old. He was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi June 23rd 1966. He was the oldest of three children. He was preceded in death by his Mother Sarah Gordon, Uncle LeRoy Gordon and Aunt India Gordon-Battle.

He began his early childhood years in Saginaw Michigan before he moved to Akron, Ohio in 1982. He attended Kenmore High School where he enjoyed extracurricular activities such as running Cross Country and Track and Field. Sam worked various jobs throughout his lifetime as a Chef/Manager. He worked for Ruby Tuesday’s, Sterling Jewelry and was currently working at Robinson Hall at the University of Akron where he was recently promoted to Head Chef.

Sam loved to spend quality time with his love ones. Sam was his HAPPIEST when he was spending time with his children, as they bought joy to his heart. He was known for his kind heart and down to earth personality. Sam was a Master Chef who often enjoyed cooking a big meal for his family and friends while listening to old school R&B music and dancing in the comfort of his own home. Sam’s hospitality and love towards others was always so gracious and genuine. He loved to show people all the food he made while preparing everyone’s plate. Sam always looked forward to playing the card game of Spades after enjoying a meal with his family. He was definitely The King of Spades. Sam was also a huge sports fan and his favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Lakers.

Sam loved the Lord, and enjoyed reading verses out of (“Our Daily Bread”) pocketbook. No matter what storms or adversity Sam faced he knew that God is real. He knew that God walked with him and the vicissitudes of life did not outweigh God’s Grace and Mercy that followed him.

Samuel Earl Allen is survived by his three children Desiree Jenkins, Melanie Allen, and Samuel Allen Jr, Two siblings Lisa Allen-Osborne and Bruce Allen, Cousin-Brother Ivan Gordon, several nieces and nephews and cousins and many loving friends. He was also known to many as UNCLE SAM.

Sam’s Legacy will continue to be: Love God, protect the family, share wisdom when learned, and help those in need when you have the power to do so. He will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed.
