Alvin L. Hawkins Sr.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin Leon Hawkins Sr., who departed this life on July 28, 2026. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the love, memories, and lasting legacy he leaves behind.
Alvin was born on October 27, 1955, in Alliance Ohio. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring son, and loyal friend whose greatest joy in life was his family.
He is survived by his loving mother, Vera Hawkins; his wife, Yolanda Hawkins; his beloved children, Tiana Hawkins and Alvin Hawkins Jr.; and his treasured grandchildren, Isaiah Ashcraft, Katour Ashcraft, Armonnie Hawkins, Gianni Ashcraft, and Jada Marie Hawkins. He also leaves behind a host of nephews, a niece, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Hawkins Sr., and his brothers, Elbert Hawkins Jr., Danny Nicholson, Jerry Hawkins, and Glen Hawkins.
Alvin dedicated many years of service to Republic Steel, where he worked until his retirement in 2016. He took pride in his work and treasured the friendships he formed with his coworkers over the years.
Known as the glue that held his family together, Alvin was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. If someone called, he was there. His generosity, compassion, and selfless spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His grandchildren brought him endless happiness, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Alvin also held a special place in his heart for Luann, Courtney, Terrian, and their children, who meant so much to him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides at Pavilion of Edgefield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they showed Alvin throughout his time there.
Alvin’s laughter, warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2026, at New Zion Baptist Church, 1135 East Jersy St. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
