Bobby Ray Colvin

August 26, 1955 – July 31, 2026

Bobby “Butter Roll” Colvin was called home on July 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Born on August 26, 1955, in Akron, Ohio, Bobby was educated in the Akron Public School System. He came from a family deeply rooted in faith. As a young man, he worked alongside his father and uncle in the salvage and sanitation business, where he developed a strong work ethic that remained with him throughout his life.

Gifted with remarkable mechanical and technical abilities, Bobby operated his own electronics repair business, fixing televisions, radios, and virtually anything that needed repair. His talents extended far beyond electronics. He had a lifelong love for automobiles, enjoyed attending car shows, and treasured participating in the Akron Soap Box Derby alongside his beloved late son, Deshawn.

Bobby later acquired Colvin Waste Services, growing the business through dedication, vision, and perseverance. His final career reflected another of his passions—home renovation. Bobby found great joy in purchasing and restoring homes throughout the City of Akron. He approached every project with pride, craftsmanship, and excellence, continuing his work until declining health no longer allowed him to do what he loved.

Bobby had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. If someone needed anything, he would go out of his way to make sure they were taken care of. Known as a true “Jack of all trades,” Bobby knew a little bit about everything, and if he didn’t have the answer, he always knew someone who did.

If you called Bobby, you could count on him to show up. And when he arrived, you could also count on him to keep everyone laughing with his playful trash talk and quick wit. His presence brought laughter, comfort, and a sense that everything would be alright.

Dependable to his core, Bobby was a man whose word could be trusted—someone his family, friends, and neighbors could always rely on. To know Bobby was to love him. His kindness, generosity, loyalty, and unforgettable personality left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Sammie L. Colvin Sr.; his brother, Sammie Colvin Jr.; and his beloved son, Deshawn Daniel.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Maggie Colvin; his children, Robert (Charmin), Tyrone, Shawndale, Jazmyn, Jaquana, Lashunda, Karl (Brittney), Myiesha, Bobbi, Raymel, Raelyn, Avionna, and Amari; his sister, Linda Colvin-Bivens (Dennis); eight grandchildren; his aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, Dave Robinson and Richard Burroughs.

Bobby will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, skilled craftsmanship, unwavering determination, and, above all, the love he shared with his family, friends, and community. His generosity knew no bounds. He freely gave his time, knowledge, and resources to anyone in need without expecting anything in return. Bobby’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the homes he restored, the businesses he built, and the family he loved with all his heart.

My condolences to the Family and Loved ones. Its been many years since Grace Elementary, Cedar and Bishop Streets. Taking turns riding on Sammie’s Go Cart with the lawn mower engine on it. Fun times in the Valley. The last time we crossed paths was in Open Pantry on Copley Road where we had a great conversation and some good laughs. Simply put Bobby was always a good Brotha with something nice to say and a pretty good marble shooter too. Rest in Heavenly Peace my old friend…SALUTE!!!
