Our beloved Chaderra McGowan went home to be with Our Lord on Monday, September 4, 2023.
Chaderra was born to Eddie and Delia Mae McGowan on October 25, 1953. He attended South High School and participated in football and wrestling. He later decided to join the United States Marine Corps. After returning home from the service, he worked for the city of Akron and Halasha Trucking Company as a truck driver. He was also an automotive mechanic. Chaderra enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, fishing, playing the lottery (with numerous winning tickets) and he loved hot and spicy foods.
He was preceded in death by sister, Shirley D. McGowan; maternal grandfather, Aaron Yelling; father, Eddie McGowan and a special nephew, Dominic M. Davis.
He is survived by sons, Shaderra (Brandie) McGowan and Lawrence McGowan of Akron, Ohio; daughters, Rosemary McElroy, Tomeka McGowan and Delia McGowan, all of Akron, Ohio; mother, Delia M. McGowan of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Vaughn A. Davis of Akron, OH, Sollie S. (Dorothy) Davis, Jr. Northport, AL; sisters, Edwina (Ernie) Payton of Indianapolis, IN, Deborah Moore of New Albany, IN and Vivian Traylor of Akron, OH; nieces, Danielle, Alisa, Janel, Qiyana, April, Dena’, Desiree and Cara. nephews, Vaughn A. Jr., Donovan, Sollie S. Jr. III, Wayne, Carleton, Edward and Seneca; grandchildren, Imari, Romarrius, Don’Marie, Milani, Izaiaha, Brianna, Ramone, Carmello and a host of other relatives and friends.
Even though Chaderra was boisterous, argumentative and confrontational, he dearly loved his family and friends, and enjoyed spending quality time with them. When he comes to visit, there was never a dull moment. He would light up every room with his smile when he made his grand entrance. As a young boy, he would pull pranks and sit back and watch the expression on your face. You will either laugh, smile or cry. Once you have met Chaderra, he is one you will never forget. His devious smile and heart of gold will be greatly missed.
No Services Will be held per the family’s request.
