On Tuesday March 2, 2021 Charlene Jones loving wife and Mother of three children and an adopted daughter, passed away at the age 60.
Charlene was born April 15, 1960 in Akron Ohio to her late parents Charlie and JoAnn Motley. She graduated from Buchtel High School in 1978 where she met the love of her life and now her husband, Brian C. Jones. Charlene drove as an independent contractor with Akron Public Schools for over 30 years. She was also a member at The House of the Lord where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for the 4th and 5th grade students and a Deacon.
Charlene and Brian were married in 1979 and later began a family with the birth of their children Jovon, Ariss, and L.B.. Brian and Charlene’s relationship were deeper than just wife and husband. They were true soulmates and best friends. Their love has served as an example to all who have met them.
She loved being a mother it was who she was. She taught her kids what true unconditional love and forgiveness looked like. She taught her kids the importance of having their own personal relationship with Christ and she led by example. She enjoyed shopping trips with her girls and playing video games with her son.
Her grandchildren call her “Lena”. If she had it, her way she would have seen them every day. She had a unique ability to become whoever her grandchildren needed her to be. Lena always had a yes waiting on them, rather it be an ice cream sandwich, a toy, or the latest Apple device. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren individually.
Charlene enjoyed cooking, D.I.Y. projects, but most of all she enjoyed time spent with her close family and friends. She was the type of person who constantly gave and never expected or wanted anything in return. She loved hard and forgave easily. If you asked Charlene to pray for you, she did not wait she would pray for you right then and there. Her infectious smile, laughter, patience, wisdom, beauty, and love will be missed.
Charlene was preceded in death by her father, Charlie C. Motley and mother, JoAnn Motley. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Brian C. Jones; children, Jovon (Tyrone) Wilson II, Ariss (Jason) Ewing, L.B. (Brian Jones II) and Brelinda (Robert) Greer; grandchildren, Hayli, Paytyn, Savannah, Ava Pearl, Jason Jr., Sadie, Brenae and R.J. (Robert Jr.); sisters, Diane Turner, Carolyn Okai and Curtis Motley and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
