David Alan Maxwell was born December 9, 1952, at St. Thomas hospital in Akron, Ohio to parents Allen H. Maxwell Jr. and Joann P. (McMillan) Maxwell. His parents were separated and in the process of a divorce before his birth. David went to the home of his maternal grandparents, with his mother and brother. In 1958 David relocated when his mother remarried. In 1963 he returned to live with his maternal grandparents. He stayed with them until his high school graduation.
In 1971, David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and became a military policeman to prepare for his dream of becoming a policeman in civilian life. His first duty station was at Castle AFB, California. His second assignment was Clark AB, Philippines. There he earned a black belt in karate. David returned to Castle AFB for a short time and later returned to Clark A.B. and was temporarily assigned to assist in the evacuation of South Vietnam. He was exposed to agent orange.
After an honorable discharge, David became a policeman with the San Bernardino police department. While performing his duty he was hospitalized for six months after a skirmish at a country-western bar. During his recovery David decided that he could do better by obtaining employment elsewhere.
He earned a business management degree and was hired by Chevron’s Environmental Operations Division. This division’s had the nickname “Coffin Corner”.
In 1975 at his going away party David met a young lady named Shawn Lamar. Upon David’s return from his second tour in the Philippines he learned Shawn bore his son named Charles. On November 21, 1980, David Debra Jones in San Francisco from that union three sons were born. Their names are Lucas, Lance and Levi. Much later in Life, David learned that while in the Philippines he fathered a daughter named Nathalie Lindquest.
David was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, all aunts and uncles, half-siblings; Steven Maxwell, Laurie Flournoy, Daniel “Tony” Robinson.
David leaves to mourn his passing, sons Charles Lamar-Maxwell, Lucas Maxwell, Lance Maxwell and Levi Maxwell; daughter, Nathalie (Kristain) Stork; granddaughters, Malaika Maxwell, Genesis Maxwell, Nora Stork and Yuna Vurse Maxwell; brother, Gregory (Charlann) Maxwell; half-siblings, Diane Robinson, Donna Maxwell, Dacher Bradley, Adam Maxwell and Marquita Armstrong and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relative and friends.
