DaVonte or “Big Clep” as he was known to most, transitioned this earth to be with his Heavenly Father in eternal glory on December 15, 2020. He was an awesome Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend.
DaVonte was born to Regina Clepper-Cheatham and Walter James Matthews, II on March 3, 1992. He attended East High School, achieving his High School Diploma through the Job Corp. He also attended Stark State College. Reminiscing about DaVonte’s time growing up, brought him many joyful memories, such as his love for basketball particularly when he played for the Joy Park Recreational Center. DaVonte’s smile was infectious and he deeply loved his family and special friends. He also had a unique sense of fashion. DaVonte accepted Christ at an early age and was also baptized.
DaVonte was proceeded in death by his Great Grandfather, Henry William Clepper; Grandfather, Walter James Matthews, Sr.; Brother, Walter James Matthews, III; Aunt, DeShawn Clepper and Cousin, Maria V. Nash. He is survived by his beautiful Daughter, Aryellah Maria Burch (Breyana); Mother, Regina Clepper-Cheatham, Father, Walter J. Matthews, II; Stepfather, Clifton Cheatham; Stepmother, Tiffany Valerie; Siblings, Jasmine and Shardae Spragling and Kaine Cheatham; Stepsister, Ronae Antonie; Grandmother, Virginia Clepper; Great Grandmother, Clara Clepper and Paternal Grandmother, Geraldine Matthews; Grandfather, Wendell C. Franklin; Niece, Samiyah Clement; Aunt, Tina Dorman; Uncle, Wendell J. Franklin (LaMeka); Aunt, Alicia Ware (Robert); Uncle, Marcus Matthews; Special Cousins, Indicia (Mook) Banks and Tjhaun (Icky) Green; Surrogate Family Members, Cherise (Godmother), Newesii, T’Ajah and Cekai Crawford, and a host of other family members and friends.
