Delmar J. Suttles, 66, passed away on January 30, 2020, at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was born on September 22, 1953, in Akron, Ohio. Delmar attended the Akron Public Schools and worked as a machinist before continuing his education at a tech trade school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he spent the last 15-20 years of his life.
Delmar enjoyed watching sports. You could always find him sitting in front of the TV watching football and basketball. He was especially fond of boxing and enjoyed a short career, but not before he won the Akron Golden Glove Championship in the years 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972 in NEO divisions in Cleveland, Ohio. He was inducted into the Summit County Hall of Fame boxing Association on August 22, 2010.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, the late James (J.D.) Suttles Sr. and Mildred Davis Suttles; brothers, Walter Sr., Clarence and Elbert Suttles Sr. and Cedric Pollard; special nephew, Marvin Suttles.
Delmar leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Vendetta (Bryan) Jackson of Akron, Ohio; grandson, Troy McEady of Akron, Ohio; brothers, James D. (Jimmy) Jr. of Florence, Kentucky, Donald (Edith) Suttles of Lansing, Michigan; Michael (Meredith) Suttles of Fayetteville, Georgia; sister, Dana Suttles of Las Vegas, Nevada; and devoted sister, Janice Taylor of Akron, Ohio; devoted friend and care provider, Marchell D. Friday of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
