Harriet Neloms
Harriet Neloms lovingly known as “Mimaw” and “Granny” passed away on September 4, 2026. Harriet was born in Akron, OH on March 30, 1943 to Jack and Dotsye Satterwhite. Harriet attended North High School where she graduated in 1963 while raising her daughter Antoinette.
Harriet married Cesar Neloms in December 1971 and together they raised their son James until his passing.
Harriet always had a passion for cooking. In 1994 she graduated from the University of Akron Culinary Arts program. She went on to cook for many, many years and eventually retired from cooking at Head Start.
Harriet enjoyed playing bingo, and baking cakes, but most of all she loved being with her grandchildren.
Harriet is preceded in death by her husband Cesar Neloms; her parents Jack and Dotsye Satterwhite; Brother Jack Satterwhite III; and sister Marie McCalpine.
She is survived by her children Antoinette Mason; James (Deborah) Neloms; Grandchildren Terry Mason II, Ricoh Mason, Tylar (Timothy) Portis, LaShay Neloms, Damara Neloms, James Neloms II, and Joshua Neloms; great-grandchildren Christopher Mayle Jr., Angelo Mayle, and TayLynn Portis and a host of other relatives and friends.
