Seggretta Grier

December 21, 1954 – September 18, 2026

Seggretta Grier was affectionately known as Greta, 71, lived a life defined by compassion, faith, and quiet strength. She wasn’t the loudest in the room, but her presence was always felt. She loved traveling, working in the garden, her family, but most of all her beloved husband and their children. A graduate of South High School and Southern Ohio College, Seggretta loved selling real estate and teaching all who visited her home, how to professionally answer the phone and take messages for her. Professionalism and integrity were her skill set as she successful mastered this by demonstrating and exhibiting character through jointed business ownership of Accounting Resources until her retirement. Seggretta gave comfort, dignity, and hope to every family member and friend she encountered. Seggretta served as a guiding light to her family always opened to praying with/for and listening to blues music with all those who visited. She was crusader for her community as she was Euclid’s Block Club President. Not to mention, a model for 5 Star Production.

Seggretta leaves to cherish her four devoted children, Marsilles Grier, Curtis (Kisha) Grier, Carla (Antoine) Anderson, and Marneita Grier all of Akron, OH; Sisters, Effie (Larry) Stewart and Angelette Hendon of Akron, sister: Cynthia (Michael) Pollard Love from Georgia; brothers, Wallace Fleming of Akron; brothers Derrick Pollard and Stanley (Jeffery) Pollard from Georgia, 34 grandchildren, 90 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, family and friends in Memphis, TN and Georgia.

Seggretta was proceeded in death by her husband, Herbert “Shorty” Grier of 55 years of marriage; mother, Lillie Bee Fleming of Akron, OH; father, Percy Pollard, Jr., of Memphis, TN; grandmothers, Effie Chambers, and Mattie Pollard of Memphis, TN, sister, Rita Fleming of Akron, OH; granddaughter, Kyra Elliot; grandson, Juan Hogg, Jr., great grandchildren, Rhylei, Damar, and Isabella. Special cousin; Debra Stubbs of Memphis, TN. Special Friend; Lisa Roberts of Akron, Ohio.

We take comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with those who went before her. A life well lived leaves a legacy that lasts forever.
