Herman Dennis “Pig”, 77, ascended to Heaven peacefully in the loving presence of family and friends on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Born on March 1,1947, in Akron, Ohio, to Fannie Lytle and Herman Dennis, Sr., Herman was a proud 1965 graduate of South High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was a naturally gifted athlete participating in track, football and basketball. In addition, he was voted Best Dressed by his classmates, reflecting his lifelong passion for haute couture fashion.
Upon graduation, Herman embarked on a career at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Rim Plant and later found his calling as a transit operator for the Metro Regional Transit Authority, working until his retirement in 2007. Thereafter, he continued working part-time for Thomas Limousine and the University of Akron Roo Bus Service.
Herman’s love for sports never waned. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers and participated in an over-40 softball league.
Known for his altruism, benevolence, generosity and willingness to help others, Herman was a true good and model Samaritan of his community.
A devoted member of the House of The Lord, Herman cherished his church family with fervent dedication. He was also a committed husband and father, always actively involved in the lives of his children–from coaching their sports teams to participating in school activities and field trips.
Even as his health declined, Herman faced his challenges with remarkable strength and steadfast grace. The compassionate attention of his care givers–Tiffany Valrie, Susan Welker, Pearline “Sam” Jackson and Mialon Morris,ESQ. proved invaluable during his final months, providing love and comfort to both Herman and his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Herman leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; sisters, Hattie and Regina Dennis; his children, Chris Ryan Dennis (Jacqueline), Dionne Eslick (Bobby II), Dejuan Dennis, and Bradley Dennis; special friends, Aalayah Muhammad, Ethel Ducksworth, and Sondra Abney-Arnold; grandchildren, Ryanaustin, Jihad, Bobby III, Havanni, Aleia, Harlem, Aniyah, Kamari, Kamoni, Dejuan Jr., Akala, Amina, Amir, Haveah, Halaiyah, Haniyah and Kamia nieces, nephews, family, and friends who respected and adored him

Herman will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Friends may call, Friday, May 31, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 at The House of the Lord Church, 1650 Diagonal Rd, Akron, OH 44320. Funeral services will immediately follow. Interment Glendale Cemetery.
