Beverly Butler Owens was born in Akron Ohio on August 20, 1941, to the parents, Leona Watson and Thomas Butler. Beverly attended and graduated from South High School.
On August 27, 1960, Beverly married the love of her life Howard Ervin Owens Sr. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and was baptized at St. John CME Church. She attended Beulah Baptist Church in Copley Ohio, Mt. Haven on Noble Ave., Jerusalem Missionary Church on Vernon Odom and then to Greater Peace on Vernon Odom.
Beverly worked and retired from Sumner Home. Beverly was an avid bowler in the Traveler’s League.
After retirement Beverly devoted her life to taking care of her family, especially raising her three grandchildren, Brandy, Kenny and DaQuan. She also baby sat for members of the church kids and was a devoted Avon lady.
Beverly also loved shopping with her daughter Donna, traveling with her husband and grandchildren.
She loved to cook for the holidays and making her famous “mac-n-cheese”, she was also known at church for her “mac-n-cheese”.
On Tuesday May 21, 2024, Beverly departed this life surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Howard Ervin Ownes Sr of 63 years, her parents Leona and Eugene Watson and Thomas Butler.
She is survived by her children Donna (Chris) King, Howard Ervin Owens Jr, Tracy Johnson and Kevin (Towanda) Owens. Grand children she raised Brandy, Kenneth, DaQuan Owens and also Destiny Johnson, all of Akron Ohio. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grands and seven great-great-grands. Her brother Johnny (Tamara) Watson, sister Mary “Maggie” (Robert) Thomas of Willispoint, Texas. Sister in laws Shirley Matthews and Mildred “Bitsy” Bibby of Akron Ohio.
Special niece Jasmine C. Flinn, special cousin Robin (Arkie) Rice. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held June 14, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., at Sommerville Funeral Service, 1695 Diagonal Road, Akron, Ohio.
